Hello! I’m Jeff.
I’d love to tell you a little bit about who I am and what I do.
I’m a New York City-based photographer who genuinely loves his job. Yet, I’ll admit, prior to discovering this passion for photography, I often found myself on the opposite side of the camera. I worked as an actor in New York City, and for many years was involved in film, TV and theater.
Towards the latter part of this time in my life, a friend made the mistake of offering to take some new headshots for me. By mistake, I mean that this event completely derailed me from wanting to be an actor, and set me off in a whole new direction. For the first time, I became curious about what was going on behind the camera, and increasingly found it more appealing than standing in front of it. That marked the end of one chapter of my life and the beginning of another—a passion that I began to chase and continue to chase as no other thing in my life…besides my wonderfully beautiful, supportive wife of course.
I began this journey as a portrait photographer, working mainly with actors and models. But soon enough, I happened upon an amazing wedding photographer who was offering a lighting workshop. I thought this was the perfect way to enhance my understanding of lighting for outdoor portraits and fashion shoots. Once again, I’d gone into something expecting one thing and walked out with yet another passion to focus on—Wedding Photography. I saw for the first time that wedding photography could be beautiful, artistic and emotional.
I had no idea that this was who I would become.
All of the sudden the years of studying the craft of acting, learning to understand the humanity of the characters and fill in the breath missing from the text on pages, proved even more valuable to me. The countless hours of observing others and seeing how one person could emotionally affect the other seemed to completely align with the idea of two people and their friends and family coming together on the day of their wedding. What elevated this idea for me was the fact that this wasn’t simply characters going up and performing, this was two people engaged in one of the most intimate moments of their lives, professing their love for each other in front of the world—so much more meaningful for sure! This ensures that no day or wedding will ever be the same, affording me the opportunity to have and share in unique experiences all of the time.
The central objective? To capture the LOVE, that invisible and elusive emotion that is uniquely visible in photos. It’s my honor and privilege to be a part of the moments where this emotion is shared, and to give each new family a visual documentary of the very joyful beginning of the rest of their lives together.
I look forward to the opportunity of meeting and hearing all about who you are and where you are going.
With all of my best,
